Free screenwriting software for Indian writers

ScriptPad is a free screenplay editor that runs in your browser. It formats to industry standard as you type, saves every draft automatically, and lets you write in nine Indian languages without switching keyboards. When the draft is ready, you can register it and get it analyzed without leaving the page.

No card required. No watermark on your exports.

What you get

Industry-standard formatting

Scene headings, action, character, parenthetical and dialogue are formatted as you type. Write in Fountain, or just type — ScriptPad handles the margins so a producer sees the format they expect.

Nine Indian languages, live

Type in English and see Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi or Odia appear as you write. No separate keyboard, no font hunting, and the script stays correct through export.

Autosave and version history

Every draft saves as you write and keeps its history, so you can go back to an earlier pass without keeping twelve files named final_v3_REAL.

Import and export what the industry uses

Bring in Final Draft (.fdx), Fountain, PDF or plain text, and export back out to Fountain, PDF or Final Draft. Your script is never locked inside ScriptPad.

Registration built into the page

When a draft is ready to share, register it without leaving the editor. ProofScript anchors it to the Bitcoin blockchain and issues a certificate, so the date you wrote it is provable.

Analysis on the same draft

Run AI analysis on the script you are writing — craft scores, market read and a nine-axis breakdown — instead of exporting it to a different tool first.

Write in your language

Most screenwriting software assumes you write in English. ScriptPad does not. Type phonetically in English and the line appears in the script you are writing in, live, as you type — and the correct font is embedded in the PDF, so your name and your dialogue survive the export intact.

Common questions

Is ScriptPad really free?

Yes. Writing, formatting, autosave, version history and import/export are free with a ProofScript account, with no card required and no watermark on your exports. Registering a screenplay (from ₹499) and full AI analysis are paid — writing is not.

Can I write a screenplay in Tamil or Hindi?

Yes. Type in English and ScriptPad transliterates live into Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi or Odia. The correct script is embedded in your PDF export, so nothing turns into boxes when someone else opens it.

Do I need to install anything?

No. ScriptPad runs in the browser on desktop, tablet and phone. Your drafts sync to your account, so you can start a scene on one device and finish it on another.

Can I import my existing Final Draft script?

Yes. ScriptPad imports Final Draft (.fdx), Fountain, PDF and plain text, and exports back to Fountain, PDF and Final Draft.

How is this different from Final Draft or Celtx?

Two things those tools do not do: live writing across nine Indian languages, and screenplay registration built into the editor. If you write in an Indian language, or you want the date on your draft to be provable before you pitch it, that is the difference.
